Alan J. Wein MD, PhD(hon), FACS is Founders Professor and Emeritus Chief of Urology and Director of the Urology Residency Program, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System. He obtained his MD in 1966, holds an honorary PhD from the University of Patras, Greece and was conferred an Honorary Professorship by the Institute of Urology, Russian Ministry of Health. His clinical and research interests include, lower urinary tract, urinary incontinence and lower urinary tract dysfunction, prostate enlargement, and evaluation/management of prostate, bladder and kidney cancer. He is a recipient of numerous awards/honors, recognized nationally and internationally through his many affiliations and professional memberships. He has authored/co-authored over 1,000 papers and book chapters, holds multiple editorial positions on scientific journals and has edited/co- edited over 30 books. Dr. Wein is editor-in-chief of the 9th, 10th, and 11th editions of Campbell-Walsh Urology and the name of the 12th, and succeeding editions, has been changed to Campbell-Walsh-Wein Urology to reflect his contributions to the field.
