Noran N Hairi is a Professor of Epidemiology in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine. She studied medicine at the University of Malaya in 1996. She commenced her Master of Public Health and Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Malaya in 2003 and 2004. Noran obtained her PhD degree in 2011 from the School of Public Health, University of Sydney, Australia. She has research interests in the epidemiology of ageing and ageing-related diseases. Her work has included elder abuse and neglect, sarcopenia and frailty among older people. Noran is currently the Principal Investigator for UM Grand Challenge Research Grant on Prevent Elder Abuse and Neglect Initiative (PEACE). She is also involved in the Malaysia Ageing and Retirement Survey (MARS). Her field of specialisation are Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Public Health and Geriatrics and Gerontology. Administratively, Noran is the Head for Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Practice.
