Wei Shen Tan is a Urology Registrar at St Mary's and Charing Cross Hospitals, London. Prior to this, he completed a PhD in haematuria and bladder cancer supervised by Prof John Kelly at UCL, London. He was a previous Academic Clinical Fellow in Urology and Academic Foundation Trainee in Urology both at UCL, London. He has undertaken additional periods of research at Center for Surgery and Public Health, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard University, Boston, USA as well as Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, North Carolina, USA. His work has led to >50 manuscripts peer review publications (30 first author) and 2 book chapters as well as >35 international presentations.
His research focuses in genitourinary cancers with a particular interest in: 1) Cancer diagnostics, 2) Hyperthermia treatment for bladder cancer, 3) Optimising perioperative outcomes following radical cystectomy by enhanced recovery and robotic cystectomy and 4) Clinical outcomes research . He is a co-investigator in multiple clinical trials including DETECT I & II, HYMN, BOXIT and HIVEC-II.
